Surprises

This was one of three drawings I made Sunday morning in the life drawing group. I struggle there sometimes when I'm tired, and I only had about four hours of sleep that night and drove from Des Moines to Cedar Rapids to get there, a half-hour late. This was the shortest pose but my favorite drawing. One of my favorites from the several models I have drawn, now. A friend of mine bought it already - my first sold artwork! I really like it overall, but my favorite part is the foot. It was a quick and simple gesture, but it came out as a really good looking foot.

I've had a little bit of an unusual path in my life, but that's put me in a lot of positions where I could be surprised. It hasn't been an easy path, but I wouldn't want to have gone through life without those surprises.
